Maryann will be reading her essay “Portrait in Six Parts” (currently only available in print!) at Cinderblock People, along with Matt Caprioli, and K. Joffree.
After the reading, Cinderblock will be open for attendees to browse records. Light refreshments will be served.
Maryann Aita is a writer and performer in Brooklyn, NY. Her writing has appeared in The Exposition Review, Crack the Spine, Big Muddy, and Opossum Magazine, among others. She performs her work around New York City, including her one-woman show My Dysfunctional Vagina. Her original teleplay won the Best Comedy Pilot at the 2016 Broad Humor Film Festival. She has an MFA in writing from Sarah Lawrence College and a BA in psychology from New York University. She lives in Brooklyn with her two cats, one named for an emperor and one for a queen.
K. Joffré is a gay Guatemalan-American writer happily married in New York. He has non-fiction published in Slate and fiction published in Vol. 1 Brooklyn, Cosmonauts Avenue, Opossum Lit, and elsewhere. He hosts a podcast called "Writing Is Annoying." Matt Caprioli is the arts editor for The Red Hook Star-Revue and works for dementors in finance by day. He was a reporter for several years at Alaska's largest weekly, The Anchorage Press, and his journalism has appeared in HuffPost and The Anchorage Daily News; Best Gay Stories, Chicken Soup for the Soul, and Opossum have published his creative work.
